I know, I’m way behind, but life stuff has been happening, so it’s been a stretch. I’m planning on another 3,000 word day tomorrow. Maybe more, if I’m not too tired.
Where are you guys?

“Sunny!! So glad you made it, little girl. Come here and give my a hug,” Jack Smith said as he tromped down the steps to greet his niece.
Sarah stepped past Jude, who had opened the door for her again.
“Uncle Jack! I’m so sorry I put you through all this worry and I swear, I meant to call, and —”
“Do not even mention it, Sunny...

Come on guys!
Hope you’re still going! I’m a little behind but I’m pushing myself forward, doing that little bit over the daily word count each day so that I can climb back up that ladder. Keep at it folks!

OK slackers!!
Where are we at here? Who’s still participating? Only 18% of NaNo folks finish, but let’s be part of that 18%.
Here’s something my friend Noelle sent me. “Double Your Word Count” is a day to get back on track. Let’s do it!

Hooooooly schnikes
I was doing so well. Then this weekend, I was out doing some of my do-gooding, and I have fallen behind on the novel front. But I’m not giving up!! I’m gonna catch up.

Isn’t it sooooo freaky when inspiration hits you like that? BANG! It’s like when I write songs, once I finally get to that point where the melody clicks, sometimes the words come out so fast I almost can’t keep up with them.
And suddenly a minor character entered the life of my main character and - shit - this all just took such a different direction.
I’m really...
Song titles/quotes
I think that it’s totally fine to use them in this stage. Especially because I think we’re all really influenced/inspired by music.
I just submitted something for copyright that had a lot of song titles/lyrics in it, and for the purposes of copyrighting, I dropped all the quotes. However, I think for publication you would be able to use them, you would just need to go through the...

hugs. good luck today. i wish i could stay home and write all day!! i am on some kind of crazy roll here. i’m a little worried that next week when i am away on business i might fall behind, so this is me, trying to get ahead. i read the first bit this morning. it’s not bad. it’s not great…but it’s not...
Quotes/song titles
I wanted to use a song title for the title of my novel too, Cat, but I came to the same conclusion. Not Interpol but a few different options… I ended up going with a few quotes before the first chapter starts. But then again my novel is almost exclusively about bands and the music industry and concerts and things like that, so it’s hard to avoid namedropping anything, but I’m...
panic! no no don't panic...
but i panicked this morning when my computer decided to fuck with me, turn itself off and tell me it couldn’t find the document “the book”. oh my….*heart stopped*
i felt queasy. but all is well. i recovered the thing. thank god.
oh and nice cover L! and you’ve got a working title too it seems.
can i use a song title as a tentative title for now? i really like...
Silly notions of when it's best to write
For some reason, I keep telling myself that I only want to write in the evening. I’ve always been a night owl. When it’s time to go to bed, I start feeling creative, efficient, organised.
But I was just thinking about it now. I’m an MA student. I’ve had my three classes for the week already. I’m going into town to get a few things today, but that’s pretty much...
word count up to 2208
Cranked out roughly 1300 words tonite. Plot lines are all over the place though there is a semblance of a continuation thread. Not sure how its working for everyone else, but I find myself writing “bios” of characters and not a lot of what I would call action. It’s interesting as hell for me but I think that’s where the thread of any sort of plot suffers.
A cool little...

Going good. I’m liking what I did today - the changes in mood and atmosphere, and the relationships shown. Noice!
If you’re not doing so well… just write. See what happens! I was expecting something completely different today than what I got but I’m going full pelt with it anyway! Let it out, folks, let it alllll out.

Kicking and screaming...
If I, Queen of All Procrastinators, can complete NaNoWriMo, then you can too. Just so you know, I intend on dragging you all screaming and kicking across the finish line if we have to stay up on iChat until we can get this shit done. Count on it.
So those who are behind, quit worrying about plot. Worry about developing your characters. Then throw obstacles in their path and see how they react.

part two, imma comin’ for ya.
i’m not calling them chapters yet. i don’t know why.
so far so good, nanners.
i am surprising myself, really. the story is just pouring forth, my fingers are flying over the keys. on Saturday i had a total panic attack and almost backed out completely, but after a few glasses of wine… (or was that bottles? how many writers were alcoholics, i wonder? i can think of several just off the top of my head. i can see why too. nothing like a good buzz to chase away the...
… And like clockwork, I now find myself feeling that my idea for a novel is complete crap, that my writing is dull and uninspired, and that I should think of something else to write about.
I know this is a phase though, and I will write my way through it. I know I really like this idea, so I am not sure why I suddenly feel so annoyed with it all.
How are the rest of you doing?

November is for writing
and December is for editing! So the NaNoWriMo people keep telling us but I keep forgetting, I want to get in there and start fixing things.
I’ve not let myself though. I’m on about 3000 words as day 1 is coming to an end, but I’m not ready to stop yet. I’m hoping to hit 4 - 5000 before bed as I know I have it in me, so I might as well try to keep going.

Tenses - how do you eat yours?
Hi folks!
Have y’all started yet? I’m interested to know - what tense are you writing in? Personally I’ve gone for first person, present tense. It’s a weird one but I’m really drawn to it for this project. How about you?
-Jax
Don't forget to back up!
I’m just going to add whatever I’ve got each day into an e-mail to myself on my gmail. Knowing there are two copies of what I’ve got so far makes me feel a lot calmer!
Have a good first day everyone!

First 15 minutes of NaNoWriMo
11:55 p.m. - Wash dishes to eliminate distraction.
12:01 a.m. - Move to the table to get started.
12:02 - Stare at the blank page.
12:03 - Start typing, backspace to fix typos.
12:07 - Air guitar to John Mayer Trio.
12:08 - Bathroom break.
12:10 - Type some more. Squint at the screen.
12:12 - How many words is that? 154? Seriously?? Crap.

Hurrah! Done for day 1, officially
I just started writing now and thought it’d take a while before I got there, but I’m pleased to report that with the playlist (oh writing playlists I adore you) on shuffle and the document before me, I’ve gone above my daily limit. I will keep writing for now though, because I’m on a roll. I’ve been dying to start this since I figured out what I wanted to write about....
I'm amazed at my NanoCount application.
Which I downloaded because TextEdit doesn’t have a word count… I didn’t even tell it to but the goal is set to 1667 words! How cool? Very cool. Currently at a procrastination station but I’m coming up to the first halfway stage. Liking it so far!
